Konopka Electric started out of Jim Konopka's home in 1992. Today it's a community institution — a family business that has earned its reputation job by job, customer by customer, across Hartford and Litchfield County.

Konopka Electric was founded in 1992 by Jim Konopka with a simple philosophy: do the work right, stand behind it, and treat every customer the way you'd want to be treated. Jim started out in Plainville, moved to New Hartford, and eventually brought the business to Torrington — where it has been rooted ever since. Three decades later, that philosophy hasn't changed.
Jim grew the business job by job — from a one-man operation to a company with its own dedicated facility, built through four decades of hard work in the field. Word spread across Hartford and Litchfield County and never really stopped. Today Konopka Electric is one of the most trusted electrical contractors in the region, serving industrial plants, commercial developers, and homeowners across all of Connecticut.
Along the way, Jim earned the Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions Platinum Dealer designation — 400+ generators installed and maintained. Over the past six years he has been recognized as a Top 10 dealer in New England. That recognition came from decades of doing the work right, not from marketing.

Jim is the owner of Konopka Electric and the foundation of the family business. With over four decades of experience, he started the company in 1992 out of his home — growing it into a trusted operation with its own dedicated facility. Built on reliability, honesty, quality workmanship, and long-standing relationships throughout the community. In recent years he has earned recognition as a Top 10 Briggs & Stratton dealer in New England — six years running.
Outside of work, Jim enjoys fishing on his boat in the Long Island Sound, volunteering at annual events through the Burlington Men's Club, and spending time with his family and dogs.

Jillian is often the first voice you'll hear when calling the office. As Jim's daughter, she has quite literally grown up in the family business — Konopka Electric started three years before she was born. She officially joined the team in 2019 and takes pride in continuing a company built on multi-generational trust.
Her favorite part of the job? How proud she is of her dad for becoming a Top 10 Briggs & Stratton dealer in New England — and making sure every customer's experience is simple and straightforward from start to finish. Outside of work she enjoys cooking and baking (often bringing it in for the team), learning to golf, trying new restaurants with her boyfriend Steve, and spending time near the water.

Konopka Electric has been part of the fabric of Torrington and the surrounding towns for over 30 years. Jim volunteers annually at events through the Burlington Men's Club, and you'll often find the Konopka team at the Harwinton Fair — one of Connecticut's most beloved community traditions.
